Access and Equity for All Students: A Cultural Proficiency Certification Program

The Center for Leadership, Equity, and Research has partnered with The Center For Culturally Proficient Educational Practice to provide professional learning for participants who wish to become Certified Training Associates for Cultural Proficiency.

The content and processes for the training are presented in a Three-Phase format over 10 days. These customized learning experiences, created by Delores and Randall Lindsey and other Cultural Proficiency authors, are specifically designed learning opportunities that guide participants through self-examination, analysis of practice, and investigation of organizational policies.

Participants learn critical content, design a collective inquiry action plan, and learn and use presentation and facilitation skills for group development.

Training Associates for Culturally Proficiency are prepared to develop capacity within their district or agency. The Trainers become members of the Cultural Proficiency Learning Community.

Cohort 7 End of Year Celebration

Thank you to those who attended our Social Justice Leadership Mentoring Program – Cohort 7 Celebration luncheon in late June. Although the group was small in numbers, it was very important in brainstorming next steps for CLEAR and our organization’s collaboration possibilities. A special thank you to our new Board members who attended; your guidance in the near future will be especially important.

CLEAR Young Professionals Corps

In the fall of 2019, CLEAR is beginning a student-led program currently named “CLEAR Young Professionals Corps” made up of college students, primarily at Fresno State. The purpose of this program, as indicated by Program Facilitator, Taylor Martin, is to “cultivate professional skills, leadership, networking and skill advancement in underrepresented groups.” CYPC serves student professionals from underrepresented groups by providing equitable resources, workshops and mentoring for professional skill and leadership development. Our program’s focus is to provide leadership development opportunities in the areas of mentoring, networking, systemic change, advocacy, cultural/intercultural communication and intentional activism. CALL FOR PAPERS for the next edition of CLEARvoz Journal

The Center for Leadership, Equity and Research (CLEAR), along with its online peer-reviewed scholarly journal, the CLEARvoz Journal, is seeking submissions of manuscripts of use and interest to education leaders in California and beyond. We seek empirical studies, concept papers, policy briefs, professional experience reflective essays, and other genres. We are strongly interested in empirical studies and concept papers in the area of equity, advocacy and mentoring. The CLEARvoz Journal, a publication of CLEAR, is focused on providing a multidisciplinary forum to provide a broad range of education professionals an avenue to share scholarly knowledge in the area of Equity and Leadership in K-20 education.
